As one that participates in futurities (one loft races), I am always looking for that impact bird. I breed just 12-15 pair and some of the readers will recognize this loft, also known as BTW loft. Two years ago, I purchased 742 on this auction site for $7200. I had heard that Victor Valenzuela was selling out. Surebet was being sold for $100,000 and 742 was the last son of Surebet, according to Victor. I had not owned a Surebet line pigeon until this purchase and I felt that 742 was the best pigeon available from a line that had made a huge impact in America. Surebet is the Sire of 742 and also the sire of the dam of 742.
The first year I bred 8 youngsters and stocked them. In 2014, I bred 742 & his yearlings and entered futurities as tests to see how they would do. The results are most pleasing. I now have more than enough young birds out of 742. However, if not for the pigeon museum auction, he would not be leaving this loft. The early results of this cross is as follows:
2013 Fast Eddie's Late Hatch Classic Eq.1st @300 miles (for Chris Seagall) VIP 85
World Series Pigeon Race-Eq. 1st, 240 miles VIP 535
Route 66 Race, Okla- BTW 8th out of 436 birds @ 150 miles VIP 523
Eq. 1st, BTW loft 8th in trap 200 miles VIP 508
Eq.1st, 39th out of 436 birds, 200 miles VIP 523
Lucky 17 Race, Okla Eq. 2nd, 3rd in trap 200 miles VIP 503
Southern Belle Race, Fla. EQ.1st, 14 sec behind 275 miles VIP 577
More results to follow when races occur. If you need an impact bird that will produce great results, 742 is an obvious choice.
